  1. Hi! I am living in Colombia, (Pereira) with my family (kids are 3 and 5). I saw your posts about horseback riding in Salento and am wondering where you organized the ride. I have contacted a few agencies but they will not take kids (insurance issues).

    Thanks so much!

    • Hello Leanne, sorry for the delayed response. I stayed at a finca near Salento (El Mocambo Hostel and Guesthouse) while we were there and they arranged for a local horseman to come and get us. Not sure there was any insurance or formalities involved… and we always travel with our own helmet for my little boy! Hope that helps.
Parents note: I would not repeat the trip to the hummingbird sanctuary with an inexperienced rider or small child. The horses were amazing but it was not for the faint of heart. I was praying during many of the slate rock climbs and descends.
Another note: seriously the most amazing horses ever – not in looks, but in ability.
